Comprehensive Courses
CAT’s most comprehensive courses
are offered in ten-week blocks, and include:
CT101 – Computer Literacy
Prerequisite: 15 words per minute
measured typing skills
- Designed for the new user, or a user new to access technology
- Emphasizes access software in the Windows environment.
- Incorporates Internet access, hardware and software options,
and scanning techniques as appropriate.
CT102 – Advanced Computer Training
Prerequisite: - 15 words per minute
measured typing skills - basic computer and access technology skills
- predefined employment or academic goal
- Designed to target specific career or educational goals.
- Tailors training simulations for job categories.
- Includes Employment Services.
Short-Term Options
In addition, specific training modules are offered in one-day through
two-week modules, according to requirements. This training may take
place at our facility or off-site if more convenient. These modules
include:
ST101 – JAWS or Zoomtext
with popular applications
Choose from a variety of popular applications including: Microsoft
Office products (Word, Excel, etc.), Outlook and Outlook Express,
Internet Explorer, Netscape, and recent versions of Windows itself.
The CAT Program teaches efficient techniques for implementing industry-leading
access software products with these applications for maximum efficiency.
ST102 – Talking Notetakers
(PDAs)
Learn the features that allow the user to function on the same level
as their colleagues using conventional PDAs.
ST103 - Optical Character Recognition
Scanning Procedures
Choose from Kurzweil 1000, Kurzweil 3000, Open Book, or popular
commercial products such as HP Office Jet Manager and Epson Smart
Panel. Master the ability to turn printed materials into stored,
editable text.
Includes intensive training in the use of any products
listed in CAT’s Access Equipment
Inventory (Inventory available upon request). Instruction helps
individuals achieve mastery of product operations in a variety of
settings. Related software presentations will be introduced as well.
