Volunteering at the Center for the
Blind and Visually Impaired is a rewarding experience. At CBVI,
volunteers are partners in helping individuals with blindness or
visual impairment increase their quality of life. Some opportunities
for volunteering include:
- Contribution Office Assistants
– helping with clerical tasks related to agency mailings.
- Readers – reading mail
for people in their homes or in the agency.
- Drivers – driving clients
to medical appointments or helping with their shopping.
- Friendly Visitors – neighborly
visits to people with vision loss.
- Escorts – for recreational
activities.
- Fund Raising Projects –
raising money for needed services.
- Staff Assistants – assisting
blind or visually impaired instructors with clerical work.
Opportunities for volunteering exist in convenient
locations throughout Delaware County. Depending on the service required,
and the number of volunteers available, volunteer assignments may
be continuous, short-term or “on call.”
