The Center for the Blind and Visually
Impaired (CBVI), also known as the Delaware County Branch of the
Pennsylvania Association for the Blind, is a private, not-for-profit
agency. Our mission is to help individuals in the Greater Delaware
Valley area prevent, prepare for, and adapt to vision loss in order
to achieve independence. Services provided to accomplish this mission
include: rehabilitation training, computer and access technology
training, employment services, social services, low vision services,
psychological services, support, transportation, information, and
community education. The agency is administered by a 24-member board
of directors, who serve without compensation.
Students in our rehabilitation and computer training
programs come from throughout Pennsylvania. Other agency services
focus on the southeastern Pennsylvania area. Employees in our employment
program are from southeastern Pennsylvania. CBVI is a member of
National Industries for the Blind, the Pennsylvania Association
for the Blind, the Delaware County Chamber of Commerce, and the
Better Business Bureau of Eastern Pennsylvania.
